The phylum Chordata refers to anything with a spinal chord.
THE CAT
Such as the cat. The kidneys of a cat seperate urea, mineral slats, and toxins
from the blood stream. Like humans, cats have two kidneys located near the
spine. Once in liquid form, the wates and toxins flow from the kidney to the
bladder through tube like structures called the Ureters. All mammals contain the
organ called the bladder. The bladder stores liquid waste prior to urination.
For the male cat it is located between the rectum and the pubis and in female
cats it is located between the uretrus and the vaginal crease. It is the primary
organ in the excretory system for cats.

THE DOG
The dog excretes much like the cat with only a few minor differences. The cat stores urine in the bladder while the dog only channels urine through the bladder. This is why when you walk your dog it needs to urinate several times because it is incapable of storing urine.
THE FROG
The frog has two kidneys with several small units called nephrons. Nephrons remove urea and convert it to urine. The urine builds up in the uteres and is periodically excreted through the course of a six hour time frame.
